Head Housekeeper needed in Great Neck, NY

Compensation: 140-160K, Full benefits with health insurance, PTO and 401K are offered.

 

Schedule: 5 days, 50 - 60 hours a week, with occasional overnight stays. 

- Must be flexible (things change quickly)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Private estate, situated on the North Shore of Long Island, seeks a high energy, well-organized, competent, hard-working individual to work together with all team members, including the family, carrying out directives across all family residences. The successful Head Housekeeper will have, among other characteristics, strong interpersonal communication skills, be highly responsible, be extremely detail oriented and be able to manage multiple tasks and processes under pressure. The primary role is to oversee the administration of housekeepers within the estate under the Principal’s direction, including oversight of the cleanliness and organization of all family residences, training new hires, assisting with logistics of housekeepers and implementing standards of service at all residences.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to Estate Manager and works directly with the House Manager and all staff.

  • Oversee staff, full time housekeepers.

  • Implement and uphold household standards of service at all residences.

  • Train new hires and ensure standards are met and understood.

  • Assist with scheduling logistics of housekeepers.

  • Oversee and maintain monthly inventories of all linens, fine china, silver, and stemware in all residences.

  • Track household supplies and request purchase/replenishment of them as needed, maintaining pars for all residences.

  • Oversite of laundry operations, including maintaining cleaning protocols, and oversight of equipment.

  • Coordinate with House Manager and Chef on daily operations and meal service as well as special events at all residences.

  • Maintain spreadsheets for inventory, supplies and keep them updated through seasonal changes.

  • Interact with vendors as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years working in a formal, fully staffed home (Luxury hotel background a plus).

  • Keen aesthetic sense and familiarity with museum quality furnishings (and the care of them).

  • Must drive and possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Superior communication skills with excellent competency in English both written and spoken.

  • Should be comfortable with Office Suite- Outlook, Word, Excel as well as smartphone technology.

  • Fully flexible schedule with nights, weekends, and holidays available as needed.

  • Hands on and Team player- no job too small attitude.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them to proper staff if or when appropriate.

  • Ability to take initiative, coordinate and oversee necessary responsibilities and tasks.

  • Know and understand when out of your expertise and arrange for consultation and advice when needed.

  • Be eligible to work in the US

  • Be local to NY, drives and has own car to get to work.
